Three IPR graduates found the startup robodev

The three IPR graduates, Dr. Andreas Bihlmaier, Dr. Jens Liedke and Dr. Julien Mintenbeck, found the startup  robodev to individualize industrial automation.

After a successful application together with their mentor Prof. Heinz Wörn for the EXIST-Gründerstipendium and completion of the KIT Startup Accelerator upCAT,
the three robodev founders now pursue their business full-time:

robodev provides individual automation solutions for cost-effective production and assembly of small quantities.

The robodev system consists of intelligent mechatronics modules that can be arbitrarily combined. Together with an innovative software control, flexible and customizable automation solutions can be created, especially for those production processes that are currently performed manually. The available hardware modules range from various electronic drives to complex sensors (e.g. 2D / 3D cameras). All modules can be directly connected together and can be attached to established aluminum profile framings. System construction is facilitated by a single cable for power and communication. The robodev system enables end-users to create a solution for their particular process step by themselves and directly on the factory floor. After connecting the master module, the system can be brought into service without any programming knowledge according to the plug & play paradigm. Configuration of the specific application is performed via a local website, which can be used from any device (e.g. PC, tablet). For applications with special requirements, such as complex robot structures or visual quality control, extra plugins for the master module are provided, which extend the master module's basic functionality. In addition to this core business, robodev also provides consulting for the design of flexible automation solutions and offers development of customer-specific modules and plugins as a service.

Overall robodev enables its customers to make their production and assembly workstations more efficient. This is achieved through solutions that are tailored to the individual process with an optimal division of labor between workers and intelligent, reusable mechatronic assistance systems.

After a first display at the Helmholtz booth during this year's CeBIT, robodev will be exhibitor at the Hannover Messe trade fair (Allianz Industrie 4.0; Hall 7, Stand D34).
